Did your parents forbid it? Did they tell you as a child that you were never to speak to a gay person or you'll turn gay like it is some sort of contagious disease or something?
Mine, thankfully, did not. My mom knows a lot of gay people, yet, I still think she'd hate me for being gay. >.>

No, they never forbade me from talking to gay people. Two of my teachers in elementary school were gay, so it would have been difficult not to talk to them. Of course, I didn't know they were gay at the time, but I'm sure my mother knew.

No I don’t think my mom ever said that and even if she did there would be nothing to worry about as I know no gay people other than online which is sad, but she is very hypocritical on the subject

I grew up on a farm in the rural south...there aren't many gay people at all, it's a rare find. In fact, I only know a handful of open gays, and only one of them is an adult. My dad generally spoke against discrimination, but he only spoke of race and religion, not sexuality. I do know that he is extremely prejudiced against homo/bisexuality, but he knows I would laugh in his face if he forbade me from talking to people because of their sexuality, so he hasn't forbidden it (I'm supposing that's the reason).

Hehehehe kinda same to me hehehehe xD my dad also always taught me against discrimination, but as far as I remember, it's always been about race or religion hehehehe But I doubt they wont let me befriend a gay person, they still haven't hehehehe... I'm not quite sure what's they're opinion on homosexuality. I've never heard them talking about it... But as far as I remember, there was a gay doctor at my house and my dad was joking "he's a nice doctor, but he was alarmed when I met him wearing just a towel" And as for tv with gay stuff, they never do any type of discrimination like changing the channel just because of it... I believe they look at it as another normal program... But I don't know what's on they're minds lol xD

They could read your mind and find out your gay, and only watch it because that would hurt your feelings.

Lol no xD Actually, that show is popular among everyone It's a brazillian live show, where there are 3 men or women: one gay, one married and one single. They have to pretend they're not what they are. Then they put a woman (the guest of the show) or man (if it's with lesbians) to analyse those tests, fun tests lol: - they have to do an exotic dance to the guest woman - they are asked about their first time, but they can lie lol... - they have to show how'd they react in certain situations... Like if a guy is hitting on your girl, how'd you react, etc - and they get a man and a woman to give them all exotic dances while their heartbeats are measured xD And some more tests I kinda forgot... It's really funny hehehehe Then the woman/man has to decide which one is the gay, the married and the single. If the guest gets the right answer, he/she scores 500 dollars per correct answer, otherwise the money goes to the gay/single/married that she didn't get it right hehehehe other than that...There aren't much gay things on tv, maybe just news...But that's news... Lol I remember my dad seeing a scene of Will and Grace when the guy Will had a crush on had to get married to stay in the country. Then Grace offered herself to marry the guy. Then when she proposed to him, he said yes, then he said "may I kiss the bride". Grace said of course, and was expecting a kiss. Instead, she was moved away and he went to kiss Will lol My father laughed at that scene

We have Rent, which is very popular at my school. xD
I watched this TV show for some reason that was sort of like the bachelorette. There were twenty guys there, several of them were gay, but she had to find out which ones were gay. If she got to the last one and he was gay, the guy would get 10,000 dollars, if she got to the last one and he was straight, they'd do what they do in bachelorette and they'd get married + they'd get 10,000 dollars.

Oh cool xD That's the kinda show that promotes homosexuality as something normal...Although not everyone thinks like that cos some shows give a bad image... Anyways, we're getting way off-topic so I created this one Click here

My parents never forbade me. I didn't really know anyone that was gay until recently, but they never confronted me about it or anything. I think they're pretty accepting about this stuff even though they're really catholic. They wouldn't be too happy if they found out that me or any of my syblings were gay or lesbian, though, I don't think.

Yeah, my mom I know wouldn't be happy to learn about my sexuality. She would be very sad, she already told me she would be disappointed, but when I tell her, well, she'll have to get over it. Makes me wonder why she has so many homosexual friends if she would be disappointed if I were gay/bi.

Probably because you're her own child. Parents are pretty hypocritical that, way, but you can hardly blame them. They expected grandchildren from you, a daughter/son in law, etc., and now you tell them you're something that's still a bit "alien" to our modern world. Give them credit, they have the right to be shocked. And actually, most parents, once they figure out you're sure about your sexuality, are pretty accepting.
