Gays in California have now lost their right to marry.

I don't. I live in Salt Lake City where the headquarters of the Mormon church is located. The Mormon church actively supported Prop. 8 and encouraged its members to donate money and time. Between 2,000 and 5,000 protesters showed up last night.

I don't know about you all but why is this still wrestled over and over in the court system, why waste money on trying to decide a group of peoples rights to be married or not, it seems like a no brainer to me. Love is love, just let them marry.

Not everyone thinks like that, unfortunately. But let me get this straight...I remember that months ago California was the second state in the US to allow Gay Marriage. Now what happened ? They backed up on that ? What about the already wedded couples ? Do they loose their "rights" ?

I don't really get freaked out about people not wanting gay marriage, just some of their reasons. The one that punches me in the face is the whole "children need both a male and female parent to grow. That is their right, and without it we are depriving them of a successful future." This hurts because my dad died when I was eight and my mom hasn't remarried. This argument is saying that my mother is evil for not remarrying the second he died, and that my sister and I are going to grow up defective.
As for what I think, well...marriage SHOULD be religious, but so should Christmas. Both are practiced by atheists, so what the Hell. I'm not going to freak about my atheist friend getting Christmas presents, I'm certainly not going to say she's any better than a non-religious person getting married.

I must say that that's one of the stupidist things I've ever heard. If that's someone's reason for not wanting gay marriages, then why are they allowing divorce? I know kids who lived with only one parent because they're other parent was dead. I can honestly say that the nicest person I have ever met in my entire life only has one parent and never met her mom. SO THERE. D:
