...He wasn't supposed to die. He was a younger than my mom. So what came to your guy's mind when you found out he was dead? (If you're ill informed, I'll be the one to break it to you. Michael Jackson is dead.) My mom thought of the little boy in the Jackson Five. My sister thought of the creepy guy that molested the little boys. I thought of the Thriller dance. I know he wasn't the most respectable celebrity out there...but he did make some GREAT music, and that earns a "Rest In Peace" from me. R.I.P., M.J.

Honestly...all that I said was "oh". I want to feel bad, but I really don't.

It's not so much I feel bad, I guess. I mean, Thriller and Beat It are amazing, but otherwise, his music really didn't affect me too much. But he was so prominent in the media that it's really eery to have him gone. To me, it was kind of like when my maternal grandmother died. She was already really old and sick by the time I was born, so all I knew of her was the woman that was always in a wheelchair and never talked. Her death was a tragedy to my older relatives, but to me and my younger sister it was more of a "somebody's missing, right?" kind of shock. Jackson's death was the celebrity equivalent for me.
I'm really upset about the way the news is treating his death, though. And there were already jokes about it within the first few days. Whether it's a celebrity or a family member, I think the dead deserve respect for at least a few weeks.
